The first month of summer has been a whirlwind of excitement at The Children’s Book Bank! In collaboration with the Faranak Foundation, we celebrated Disability Pride Month with a bilingual storytime in English and American Sign Language (ASL) at The Children's Book Bank Jane & Finch. 

We were also thrilled to host author-illustrators Kevin Sylvester and Jess Hannigan, who shared stories and led our visitors through hands-on art activities. 

Over the break, kids are at risk of losing a lot of the knowledge and important skills they gained. This learning loss puts them behind when they return to school in the fall. Fortunately, studies show that regular reading is key to preventing the summer slide… and it can be FUN!

One of the best ways to get kids interested in reading is by letting them choose their own books. When children are empowered to choose their own reading material, they develop a positive relationship with reading. They are more likely to find books they enjoy and more likely to read (and finish) books they are excited about.

Summer is the busiest time of the year at The Children's Book Bank. With kids out of school, access to free literacy programs becomes more important than ever.

Our Summer Reading Program offers fun challenges to keep your kids reading all summer long! Kids can track their progress with stickers and win prizes as a reward for their hard work.

The Children's Book Bank turns 18 this month and you're invited to join in the birthday celebrations all month long!

We will also be reaching a major milestone sometime in May as we give away our 2 MILLIONTH BOOK! Keep an eye out—we'll be tracking the number of books we give away each day and have something special planned when we reach 2 million.
