Every Story Matters: Reading and Reconciliation with David A. Robertson
On Tuesday, September 30, The Children’s Book Bank had the honour of hosting author David A. Robertson for Every Story Matters: Reading and Reconciliation.
More than two hundred students from seven different public schools gathered to hear David speak about the important role stories can play in reconciliation. He shared with us the ways stories can shed light on truths that have been buried and help us build empathy and understanding. David reminded us that through learning, empathy, and action, each one of us can play a role in reconciliation.
We are grateful to Laura Arndt from Survivors’ Secretariat for opening the event and to Marit Stiles and Kristyn Wong-Tam for joining us on this meaningful day. Our thanks to Native Earth Performing Arts for their support in co-hosting this event.
Thanks to the generosity of Highwater Press, Scholastic Canada, and Tundra, each student went home with one of David’s books to keep this important conversation going.
