Become a Volunteer
Our volunteers are an essential part of Book Bank operations. With over 50 volunteers working with us per year and a paid staff of seven, we truly couldn’t do what we do without them. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please review the following requirements and responsibilities of Book Bank volunteers.
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteers must:
-
Be 16 or older
-
Be available at least 2-3 hours per week, for a period of at least one year
-
Be able to successfully complete a Vulnerable Sector Check
-
Have an interest in/ experience with working with children, engaging in social justice causes, having knowledge of children’s literature, and working in a retail environment
Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers will be asked to perform the following tasks as volunteers at the Book Bank:

Engage with customers and be able to provide advice and assistance with regards to children’s literature
-
Maintain a tidy storefront environment (stocking shelves, creating displays, sweeping, dusting, etc.)

Read to children as part of Storytimes for Students and other storefront programs

Sort and organize book donations
