We are excited about all the events we have planned for the fall – fun community events, all in support of The Children’s Book Bank.
Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon – Charity Challenge
This October 22nd, the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon will play host to thousands of runners, spectators and volunteers from all over the world as they take to the streets to run, walk and wheel through Toronto’s waterfront. The Scotiabank Charity Challenge was created as a community-building initiative offering a great fundraising opportunity for local non-profits.
We are looking to people who register for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Half Marathon & 5k (run or walk) to create an online fundraising account to help raise funds for The Children’s Book Bank.
The Children’s Book Bank is hoping to raise $15,000 through STWM to support our literacy programming including our Dictionaries for Newcomers, Books for Babies, Books Across the City, School trips with Story-time, Readers to Leaders and our After School Program.
We have kicked off our “Bookworm to Road Runner” campaign to help us get ready for marathon day, and we’ve started to share our journey via blog posts (see below) and social media. We hope you’ll join us for all the fun!

Thank you to all who attended our fundraising event, Classics and Their Creators: Books that Endure on September 13. Thank you to Yann, Margaret and Charlie for an engaging and fun conversation. Thank you to our sponsors and a special thank you to our volunteers who worked so hard to make the evening a success and helped us to raise close to $30,000 for the Book Bank.
