I registered. It’s official. I’m in.
Now it’s your turn…
There are a couple of ways to register and I have decided to share a step-by-step to help make it all as easy as possible.
First off and sort of the most important step, here is the link to register: http://www.torontowaterfrontmarathon.com/community-and-charity/scotiabank-charity-challenge/
You will see a big red button on the right side that reads Register, click on it.
Race Roster will appear (for both Canadian and International runners). Click on the appropriate box.
You will then be asked to choose which race you want to register for: Full marathon, Half marathon, 5K (walk or run), 5K walk with a stroller.
Time to fill in all your personal info – name, address, date of birth, etc… You will also be asked for an Emergency contact, any medical conditions.
Click on the box acknowledging that there are no refunds.
You will be asked how you learned about this event. Please scroll and click on ‘Affiliated Charity’.
You will be asked to enter your expected finish time and corresponding corral (this helps the organizers plan for starting and safety of groups of runners).
* Note – everyone will get a medal and a t-shirt (as avail) as part of registration but please feel free to add on any swag you like.
When prompted to enter a Promo Code, DO NOT enter the Book Bank’s Charity Pin Code. That’s coming up shortly.
Please click on the ‘agree to release waiver’ – and then try not to hurt yourself during race day. J
You will be asked if you are a Scotiabank Employee. Unless you are in fact an employee, please click on NO.
Scotiabank Charity Challenge will appear, click on YES.
Choose your charity. We are listed as Children’s Book Bank (no The).
You will then be prompted to enter the appropriate Charity Pin Code, which will give you a small discount on your registration fee. The Book Bank’s Pin Codes are:
- Marathon or Half Marathon: 17BOOKBANK42K
- 5K: 17BOOKBANK5K
- 5K with Stroller: 17BOOKBANK5ST
Now you will be given the option to create a fundraising account – which enables you to have friends, family and co-workers to sponsor your walk/run OR you can make a one-time donation if you prefer.
To set up a fundraising account you will be directed to Artez – a website that tracks your fundraising efforts and manages the race’s tax receipts for donations.
Create a Username and Password (remember to keep it simple so you don’t forget).
You will be given the option to create a fundraising goal. It’s not mandatory, but it might be a good way to keep you on track. I have set a goal of $500.
Click continue to payment.
When the billing information comes up you can click on ‘Copy for Participant’ and the blanks will be filled in automatically for you.
Enter your CC info and submit. A screen will pop up with a confirmation number and a confirmation will be emailed to you.
If you scroll down the page, you will see an option to share a link (your very own) with your friends via email, Facebook or Twitter. This makes it super easy to get your fundraising efforts started.
You can set up your profile to share photos, thoughts and goals – and share with friends to get them involved too. The more the merrier.

This will give you extra information about the race including picking up your Race Kit and making any changes to your registration.

If you would like to join our team (we are looking for at least 15 people) please visit:
Remember how I suggested keeping your Username and Password simple – that will come in handy now, because you will need to sign in.
Then click on the tab at the left ‘Join A Team’ and search for Children’s Book Bank Book Worms. Select and then join the team.
* You are also welcome to create a team of your own in support of the Book Bank. This could make for some fun competition.
