On Monday night, over 40 people came out to The Blake House to try their skill at Cheater’s Trivia (all trivia was related to children’s literature), a fundraiser for The Children’s Book Bank.  The entire evening was organized and hosted by a group of outstanding students from Centennial College’s School of Communications, Media, and Design.  The evening was filled laughter, yummy food and cheating! (teams could buy answers to questions they didn’t know – $4 per question)

Here’s a sampling of the questions from last night:

  1. How many publishing houses rejected J.K. Rowling before she was signed?
  2. Name three characters from The Wind in the Willows.
  3. What is the name of the girls’ teacher in Madeline?

Kudos to Team Fab-U-Lous for winning the amazing prize pack (4 bottles of wine, 4 AGO admission tickest, 4 movie passes and party planning essentials).

We were all enamoured by the evening’s M.C., Robert Paul Weston, an award-winning children’s author who lives in Toronto.  He spoke passionately about the impact that The Children’s Book Bank has, giving books to a child who does not own a single one.  We were all moved by his words and thank him deeply for coming to support our night.

The night would not have been the success it was, without the efforts and energy of this awesome team of students:  (left to right) Simon McNeil, Martha Holmen, Erica Geller, Katie MacKay and Brian Millar.

And one more thank you, to the businesses of Cabbagetown who donated items to our silent auction.
